The Minister of National Development and Chief Negotiator for Belize in the matter of the dispute with Guatemalan informs that, following an invitation from H.E. Luigi Einaudi, Acting Secretary General of the Organization of American States, he will be leading a team to hold discussions in Miami, Florida, United States of America, over the weekend.

The discussions are to be of an informal nature, with no set agenda and with no expectations of the meeting resulting in any formal agreement. The meeting is being held to enable the Parties to hold informal discussions, under the auspices of the OAS, with a view to exploring the way forward in the ongoing attempts to bring the dispute to a definitive and honorable conclusion.

The team accompanying Mr. Shoman at these talks includes Ambassador Lisa
Shoman, Ambassador of Belize to the OAS; Ambassador Alfredo Martinez, Ambassador of Belize to Guatemala; and Mr. Eamon Courtenay.
